Weren't the troops supposed to sing satirical songs about the triumphator to help keep his feet on the ground? I know, most of what we think we know about triumphs is very questionable.

@REDrake: Actually, the term imperium Romanum does go back to the Republic to refer to everything under Roman control. I remember watching a film (can't remember the title now) set in LA with an ensemble cast, members of an amateur baseball team with soap opera-ish lives. The trouble is they were all physically similar enough that after the first introductory scenes I simply couldn't recognise who was who.RWMGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04271851970303022440noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730513615909994019.post-50528259776008444032011-07-24T22:04:35.539+01:002011-07-24T22:04:35.539+01:00The movie was pretty good. For one, the constant mention of the Roman Empire, while there was no Empire at that point and also, the higher role of Caesar at the end. Caesar was not such a high figure at the end of Spartacus rebellion. It would take him a few years to become a political figure, before he became a military leader.REDrakehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13369747319623192689noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730513615909994019.post-65605342342692681142011-07-24T21:17:16.022+01:002011-07-24T21:17:16.022+01:00Man, I miss ER....! ;) (That episode with Carter a...Man, I miss ER....! ;) (That episode with Carter and Luka fencing and Luka quoting Hamlet has to be the sexiest. episode. ever.)Juliettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00203399623895589924noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730513615909994019.post-85316463387240528162011-07-24T21:10:31.069+01:002011-07-24T21:10:31.069+01:00"And I can’t ignore the possibility that my f..."And I can’t ignore the possibility that my fondness for this is entirely due to the fact I would happily watch Goran Visnjic strip paint, especially if he took his shirt off to do so."

Okay, I am definitely going to have to find this.
